Virginia Estes
Virginia Estes, age 75, was born October 2, 1949, in Memphis, TN. She was the beloved daughter of the late legendary Sleepy John Estes (John Adam Estes) and Ola Estes. There was a Memorial Service held at the First United Pentecostal Church, located at 961 Chestnut Grove Rd., Brownsville, TN on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 5:00 P.M.
Virginia accepted Christ at an early age. One of her favorite things to do was sit on her front porch and wave to people as they passed by. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one loving son, Johnny Lee Nixon; two grandchildren, Timara Nixon and Johnny Nixon, Jr.; four great grandchildren, Messiah Grammer, Faison Nixon, Johnny Nixon, III, and Kyng James Bullock; two sisters: Lucille Rogers and Mary Woodson; one brother: Charles Estes; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her son, Troy Lee Estes; two brothers: Willie Estes and Albert Estes; and two grandchildren, Faison and Unika Nixon.
All arrangements and services were under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
