Local students explore career opportunities for Manufacturing Day

JACKSON, Tenn. — Manufacturing Day is an annual opportunity to inspire the next generation to start careers in modern manufacturing through a series of focused events to promote manufacturing to students.

Manufacturing Day for Jackson was held Thursday with over 150 high school students from the Jackson-Madison County School System visiting different industries to learn about manufacturing.

Amcor hosted the students from JASA and Madison Academic, the students arrived at 9 am with a presentation from Jackson State Community College AMT students.

“You know, manufacturing gets a bit of a bad wrap. It’s not always painted in the best picture, and so we’re excited to show them that it can be a great career. It can be clean, it can be safe, while also being a fast-paced engaging career for them. So we’re excited to bring them into a manufacturing plant and get to show them that. So that, you know, as they are looking to take the next step in their career, they consider this as an option for them,” said Ben Butler, plant director at Amcor.

Amcor is located at 1005 Lower Brownsville Road in West Madison County.
