Former pop star and West TN native makes her return to music
JACKSON, Tenn. — After a decade-long hiatus, one former Y2K star makes her return to music.
Former Pop star turned Country-Pop artist, Tonya Mitchell, is returning to the music scene after a decade.
Her debut Y2K hit single “Broken Promises” peaked on the Billboard Rhythmic Top 40 chart back in 2000.
This West Tennessee native captured national attention as a teenager touring with N-Sync.
Now, Mitchell’s mission is to empower others to be free from domestic violence with a new single, “Nobody Loves Me Like You.”
“When I wrote the song, I was writing it on behalf of my sister who was going through this situation, and had never been through it myself,” Mitchell said. “So it was really hard to be where I am now since I’ve been through it myself.”
Her new single is a raw and emotional anthem of the survival and strength of domestic violence survivors.
“I’m representing the people that have stayed silent or felt like they had to stay silent, anybody, man, woman, child, family, whatever, whoever’s going through this situation, I’m an advocate for it,” Mitchell said.
Mitchell also announced the new cover art for her single.
“Yes, so my new song ‘Nobody Loves Me Like You’, we put up a poll for all of the fans on Tonya Mitchell Official Facebook, and this is what they chose.”
Mitchell says she has big plans for 2026, with a new tour and memoir possibly on the horizon.
The new single drops in December on all streaming platforms, and the official music video will be released on November 28.
