National American Legion commander visits Jackson post
JACKSON, Tenn. — Earlier Monday evening, the National American Legion commander Dan Wiley visited American Legion post 12, in Jackson. Wiley was recently elected on August 28.
The commander travels though the country and visits to see what they’re doing to support the local community and veterans.
“Well number one priority is veterans suicide and reducing veteran suicide, and reducing the stigma associated [with] mental health; letting veterans know that it’s ok to not be ok and number two: you are not alone, there are people out there that have your back–we’ve always had your back and we are there to help you,” said Wiley.
Next year, the American Legion will be celebrating America’s 250th anniversary.
