Union University students help Special Olympics athletes prepare ahead of tournament
JACKSON, Tenn. — Union University athletes are working with special Olympics athletes in helping them hone their skills and prepare for the Olympics.
Special Olympics Tennessee offers year-round sports training, competition, as well as health and educational opportunities for individuals aged two and older with intellectual disabilities. Rooted in a global movement that champions inclusion and community, Special Olympics embraces everyone, regardless of ability or disability.
Through their efforts, they contribute to creating a better, healthier, and more joyful world–one athlete, one volunteer and one family member at a time.
“Been really fun to see the SAAC come together, all the different teams working together, and really just working as one. The idea is we want to love on these kids, and we want to support them today through games, through activities, through little skill activities, and just use the SAAC as a way to foster community service, but also just being a servant,” said Mallory Hilldebrand, student coordinator and president of SAAC.
Special Olympics Tennessee’s fall games will occur October 17-18 of this year.
