Great Weather Through Friday, Storms Likely Saturday Evening/Night
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
After falling to low 50s to kick off our Tuesday, this afternoon we warmed back up to around 80° and saw plenty of sunshine! There was a light steady breeze out of the northeast that will continue into the day on Wednesday. Mid 80s will be sticking around for awhile and morning lows will begin to climb as we approach the weekend due to an increase in the dew point. That increase in moisture though will look to fuel a round of strong and possibly severe storms late in the day on Saturday into Saturday night. Catch the latest forecast information coming up here.

THIS WEEK:
After a fantastic weekend, the great weather continued for our Columbus Day and Tuesday here in West Tennessee. The nice weather will be hanging around for the work week but changes are coming for the weekend. This is our first threat for severe weather during what we call our “Second Severe Weather Season!” The set-up is going to bring severe weather with it, but the timing of the storms will determine the severity of the event for us here in West Tennessee. As of now, we are expecting this to be a late event on Saturday, but if the timing is sped up, we could be in the middle of the severe threat instead of near the end. Please stay weather aware this week and monitor forecasts from the WBBJ 7 Storm Team Weather Center.

Tuesday morning lows dropped down to the low 50s before we warmed up nicely. We only saw a few clouds as all of us saw mostly sunny skies again on Tuesday. The winds were light and came out of the northeast again on Tuesday and will stay out of the northeast on Wednesday. Wednesday morning we will start the day in the mid 50s and temperatures will reach the mid 80s into the afternoon. We are not expecting much in the way of clouds during the middle of the week and the humidity will be remaining low through Thursday.

The winds will shift to the east on Thursday and back to the south on Friday. This will increase the humidity as the southerly winds will tap into some gulf moisture. This will increase the clouds some on Friday as well but we are still expecting a mostly sunny finish to the work week. Highs will reach the mid 80s for both Thursday and Friday and morning lows will start to climb to the upper 50s and Friday night lows will drop into the low to mid 60s. Friday night football again looks great for all the games in West Tennessee.

THE WEEKEND:
The greatest threat for strong and possibly severe storms in a couple months looks to be returning to West Tennessee. As we get deeper into October we start to kick off what we call our Second Severe Weather Season. In the fall, it is not abnormal to encounter severe and dangerous weather. The set-up coming this weekend looks like a classic fall severe weather set-up. As of now, the further west you are, the more likely you will be to be impacted by strong storms on Saturday. This is due to the timing of the storms and they are likely to weaken as they move to the west late in the day on Saturday. All severe weather modes will be in play. We want the system to slow down some for us as that will keep the worst storms west of the Mississippi River. It is going to be a close call for us regardless.

Highs on Saturday will reach the mid 80s but we should cool down behind the front on Sunday with highs only reaching the mid 70s. Expect a mostly cloudy day on Saturday with the clouds clearing out sometime into the afternoon on Sunday. Some of the showers and storms could continue into Sunday morning but we are expecting mostly sunny and dry weather back for our Monday. Morning lows will be in the low to mid 60s through the weekend before falling down to the mid to upper 40s by Monday morning. The winds will shift from the southwest on Saturday to the northwest on Sunday.
