Lane College Hosts the 2025 Jackson Doc Fest: International Documentary Film Festival and Gala Awards Show
Jackson, Tennessee – October 15, 2025 – Lane College is proud to serve as a key host and community partner for the 2025 Jackson Doc Fest, the fourth annual international documentary film festival, taking place October 18, 2025, in Jackson, Tennessee. Several festival events, including the highly anticipated awards ceremony and gala show, will be held at Lane College’s Chambers-McClure Academic Center (CMAC) Auditorium at 5 p.m.
Founded by award-winning Los Angeles filmmaker, Christopher HK Lee, in collaboration with Lane College History Professor, Paul Rivas, Jackson Doc Fest has quickly grown into an international destination for documentary storytelling. The festival highlights films that explore urgent social issues, environmental concerns, human stories, and cultural awareness, while providing filmmakers and audiences with opportunities for dialogue and engagement.
“Lane College is proud to remain a partner in an initiative that celebrates artistic expression and empowers young voices and storytellers,” said Dr. Lawrence Potter Jr., Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. “This festival embodies our mission of transforming lives through academic excellence, innovation, and community engagement.”
The event will feature a red-carpet ceremony, tribute to a local Jackson hero, live music, and a ballet performance by Ballet Arts. A highlight of the gala will be the presentation of the 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award honoring the legendary Charley Pride. Widely celebrated for his groundbreaking contributions to country music, Pride received three Grammy Awards, multiple CMA honors, including Entertainer of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year, and was inducted into both the Grand Ole Opry and the Country Music Hall of Fame.
The event is free and open to the public, filmmakers, students, and invited guests. Through the Lane Doc Institute, an educational arm of the festival, students and young adults in the Jackson community will gain mentorship, practical media experience, and opportunities to develop leadership and creative skills. The festival’s student category will also allow individuals to showcase their creative and technical storytelling talents on an international stage.
