Storms Likely Saturday Evening into Saturday Night in West TN!
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
Confidence is high that a line and cluster or storms will move through West Tennessee on Saturday. What we are not overly confidant in yet is the timing of the event. The storms could cross the Mississippi River as early as 3-4pm or not until as late as 8-9pm. We should be able to nail down the timeline a little better on Friday. The later the line shows up, the weaker the storms will be. The further west of you are the more likely you are to encounter a severe storm. The main area of rotation seems to be along and west of the Mississippi River as it appears that straight line winds will the main threat for us in our coverage area. We will break everything down for you coming up here.

THIS WEEK:
After a fantastic weekend, the great weather during the work week for all of West Tennessee. The nice weather will be hanging around on Friday but changes are coming for the weekend. This is our first threat for severe weather during what we call our “Second Severe Weather Season!” The set-up is going to bring severe weather with it, but the timing of the storms will determine the severity of the event for us here in West Tennessee. As of now, we are expecting this to be an evening and nighttime event on Saturday, but if the timing is sped up, we could be in the middle of the severe threat instead of near the end. Please stay weather aware this week and monitor forecasts from the WBBJ 7 Storm Team Weather Center.

The winds shifted to the east on Thursday and will come back out of the south on Friday. This will increase the humidity as the southerly winds will tap into some gulf moisture. This will increase the clouds some on Friday as well but we are expecting a partly cloudy finish to the work week. Highs will reach the mid 80s for both Thursday and Friday and morning lows will start to climb to the upper 50s and Friday night lows will drop into the low to mid 60s. Friday night football again looks great for all the games in West Tennessee.

THE WEEKEND:
The greatest threat for strong and possibly severe storms in a couple months looks to be returning to West Tennessee. As we get deeper into October we start to kick off what we call our Second Severe Weather Season. In the fall, it is not abnormal to encounter severe and dangerous weather. The set-up coming this weekend looks like a classic fall severe weather set-up. As of now, the further west you are, the more likely you will be to be impacted by strong storms on Saturday. This is due to the timing of the storms and they are likely to weaken as they move to the west late in the day on Saturday. All severe weather modes will be in play. We want the system to slow down some for us as that will keep the worst storms west of the Mississippi River. It is going to be a close call for us regardless.

Highs on Saturday will reach the mid 80s but we should cool down behind the front on Sunday with highs only reaching the mid 70s. Expect a mostly cloudy day on Saturday with the clouds clearing out sometime into the afternoon on Sunday. Some of the showers and storms could continue into Sunday morning but we are expecting mostly sunny and dry weather back for our Monday. Morning lows will be in the low to mid 60s through the weekend before falling down to the mid to upper 40s by Monday morning. The winds will shift from the southwest on Saturday to the northwest on Sunday.
