Popular Hub City festival now has its own mural in downtown Jackson
JACKSON, Tenn. — A festival here in Jackson now has it’s own mural.
The Jackson International Food and Arts Festival celebrated the debut of the festival’s mural earlier this afternoon.
The mural was designed to support the year-round mission of the festival by spreading cultural awareness, promoting cross-cultural engagement, and celebrating the diverse backgrounds of residents in West Tennessee.
Created by local artist Rose Newhouse, the mural is a visual representation of the diverse cultures that celebrate and share their traditions from around the world.
“Today we stand before more than just a mural I created. We stand before a message. This mural represents the beauty of every culture, every voice and every story that makes this community whole,” said Newhouse.
Representatives from the festival, City of Jackson Mayor Scott Conger, Madison County Mayor AJ Massey, and the owners of the building all spoke at the dedication.
the festival’s committee felt it was important to create the mural in downtown Jackson where the festival was first held eleven years ago.
You can find the mural at the corner of East Lafayette and North Church Streets.
The festival committee provided live music and light refreshments after the event.
