Groundbreaking held for Area Relief Ministries’ second Turning Point transitional housing
JACKSON, Tenn. — A groundbreaking took place in Jackson Tuesday morning for the second Turning Point location for Area Relief Ministries.
It will be located right next to their first building in east Jackson.
This serves as a temporary living space for unhoused men in the Jackson area.
It gives them the opportunity to get back on their feet and hopefully get a place of their own.
“This house right here will be one single story. The one currently here is two stories. So this one is one level with eight beds. Four on each side,” said Fred McKinnie, Area Relief Ministries Executive Director.
Dr. Martha Robinson, the President of the Board of Directors for Area Relief Ministries, tells us more about what their goal is.
“Nationally, the incidents of homelessness is increasing,” said Dr. Robinson. “We see that reflecting in our city as well. Our mission is to take care of their immediate needs.”
They plan for construction to be complete in the spring of 2026.
