Union students lend a hand to ‘Sleep in Heavenly Peace’ nonprofit
JACKSON, Tenn. — Union University held their Community Day Tuesday, where students spent their time all over West Tennessee helping in many different ways.
On campus, the softball, volleyball and both soccer teams assisted the Sleep in Heavenly Peace nonprofit organization. They build and deliver beds to families in the 38301 area code.
That is what Tuesday morning was all about for them and the athletes at Union.
“It is amazing having them involved,” said Kevin Cozine, Chapter President of Sleep in Heavenly Peace. “Especially kids at this age. Just getting them involved in this and giving back to the community. They are putting love in each bed that they’re building.”
You can certainly get your own team together to help build beds for people right here in Jackson. That is exactly how these Union athletes were helping.
And there are some other ways to help as well.
“We have other demands, such as, getting the word out. Deliveries are probably our biggest hang up right now, because we have such a wonderful group of people, but it is small. We’re growing,” said Michelle Cozine, Chapter Vice President, Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
