Joan Hadley
Joan Hadley, age 82, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025, in Memphis, TN. Born on February 7, 1943, in Brownsville, TN, she led a life marked by love, service, and a deep faith in Christ. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025 at 2:00 PM, at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home with Bro. J.P. Barden officiating. Burial will follow in the Brownsville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
Joan dedicated many years of her life to her career at Wal-Mart, where she served as a department manager, earning respect and admiration from both her colleagues and customers alike. Beyond her professional achievements, Joan was cherished for the profound love and support she provided to her family and those around her. She was a constant source of care, always willing to lend a helping hand or a listening ear.
A member of New Vision Baptist Church, she taught Sunday School and worked with the AWANA program, sharing her love for Christ and nurturing the spiritual growth of the younger generations. This commitment to her faith was a cornerstone of her life, further showcasing her loving personality. Joan’s creative spirit shone through in her hobbies, which included drawing, painting, and crafting. These activities not only kept her busy but also allowed her to express herself in beautiful ways.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Hadley Rochevot (David) of Brownsville, TN; her sisters, Charlene Ray Moss of Jackson, TN, and Rita Johnson of Martin, TN; and her granddaughters, Lindsey Hadley of Brownsville, TN, and Brittany Hadley Roeder (Chris) of Brandon, MS. She also leaves a legacy of ten great grandchildren.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents, William Porter and Ethel Eugenie Faulkner Ray; her brother, Gary Ray; her sister, Virginia Gaters; and her granddaughters, Chelsea Rochevot and Lauren Rochevot Bartram. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, leaving behind a legacy rooted in love, faith, and artistic expression.
The family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
