James Groeneveld

Mr. James Groeneveld, 67, of Union City passed away 1:26 p.m. Friday, October 24, 2025, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Angie Simbeck will officiate. Burial will follow in Terrace Hill Cemetery near Troy.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services Tuesday.

Pallbearers will be the Patriot Guard Riders.

James was born September 29, 1958, in Hinsdale, Illinois, son of the late Richard Groeneveld and Alice (Gager) Rhoades. He married Mabel Jane (Ward) Groeneveld in 1987. She survives. He worked for Tyson Foods for several years and was the greenskeeper for Poplar Meadow Country Club in Union City. James was a member of New Beginnings Church in Union City and served in the Army National Guard for 14 years finishing his career at the 913th Engineer Company in Union City.

He is also survived by four sons, Jonathan Groeneveld (Donna) of Missouri, Kenneth McCord, Willie McCord and Lee McCord all of Union City; two granddaughters, April McCord and Tabatha McCord both of Union City; three great grandchildren, Cody Senter, Naomi “Marie” Senter and Elliott Cope; one brother, Alan Groeneveld (Karen) of Martin; and one sister, Doreen Groeneveld of Troy.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Debra Bolden and Victoria Johnson; and one brother, Arty Groeneveld.
