Liberty Tech teacher receives ‘Outstanding Instructor Award’

JACKSON, Tenn. — A local high school teacher has received an outstanding honor.

Major Christopher Honeycutt has earned the “Outstanding Instructor Award” as a sub regional winner for region 3 by Headquarters Air Force JROTC.

This honor reflects on his exceptional dedication to Liberty’s scholars and community.

According the Superintendent Chronicle published by JMCSS, with over 24 years of military experience Major Honeycutt brings unmatched leadership to the AFJROTC program, which aims to educate cadets in citizenship, promote service, and instill character and discipline.

“When I found out about it, I called my Air Force boss, Mr. Lorkowski, and he said ‘Congratulations, you do a phenomenal job! I visit all the schools and you’ve stood out this year.’ And so I was very appreciative of that. It’s nice when you have your hard efforts and work that are recognized from someone above you in the chain of command, so it was an honor to receive the reward,” said Major Honeycutt.

Liberty’s JROTC unit is known throughout West Tennessee for public service and impact.
