JACOA hosts ‘Paint for Paws’ donation drive

JACKSON, Tenn. — One local organization hosts a festive event to help out animals in need.

Jackson’s Area Council on Alcohol and Drug Dependency (JACOA) held its ‘paint for paws’ party this evening at JACOA’s location on East Chester Street in east Jackson.

Attendees dressed up for Halloween, enjoyed savory spooky dishes and collected donations for animals at the Jackson Animal Shelter.

Organizers say just as JACOA helps people overcome alcohol and substance abuse they wanted to help so many animals who need a second chance.

“We are unofficially partnering with the local animal shelter, they’re opening up their new building soon, if not already, and we’re just wanting to raise donations for that. So, new, used–whatever that is–kennels, crates, treats, blankets, cleaning supplies–all kinds of stuff–they’re always in need of that stuff. And we just wanted to be able to help out,” said Riley Jones, director of outpatient services for JACOA.

Jones says they’re still taking donations for the animal shelter. Just stop by JACOA at 900 East Chester Street. He says they will be taking the donations to the center next week.
