Chester Co Sheriff’s Dept warns of scam

CHESTER COUNTY, Tenn. – Chester County Sheriff Mark Griffin is warning citizens to be on alert for a scam that is causing some residents to become a victim.

Sheriff Griffin said the caller claims they are from the Chester County Sheriff’s Office and tells the individual that there is a warrant for their arrest. The scammer tells the individual they must pay money or they will be arrested.

“It then leads to high pressure conversations,” said Griffin. “The Sheriff’s Office won’t call you on the phone about a warrant.”

Griffin said if there is a warrant for your arrest then the Sheriff’s Office will come to your home.

The sheriff said there have been individuals to fall for the scam and send money. He is asking for anyone that receives a scam call like this to never send money and to contact the Sheriff’s Department.
