UPDATE: Police announce arrests following large manhunt

5:26 p.m. update:

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE CROCKETT COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE: 

Crockett County, TN – Today, the Crockett County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, TWRA, Bells Police Dept., Alamo Police Dept., and the Gadsden Police Dept., successfully apprehended two suspects following an extensive manhunt that commenced after a routine traffic stop.
Arrested Individuals:

1.) Casey Wilson, 34, the driver

  • Charges:
  • Felony Evading
  • Felony Possession Schedule II
  • Theft of Property
  • Financial Responsibility Violation
  • Reckless Driving
  • Failure to Maintain Control
  • Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device
  • Speeding

2.) Kendra Dean, 36, the passenger

  • She had an active warrant for Violation of Probation related to illegal drugs from another county.

More charges may be forthcoming as this investigation unfolds.

2:50 p.m. update: 

The suspect is a while male and was last seen wearing a camouflage hoodie. Based on things found in the vehicle, he is believed to be armed. Residents in the area of Walnut Hill Church Road and Lower Jackson Road are asked to ensure their vehicles and homes are locked.

A female was in the vehicle with the suspect. The female was apprehended and has outstanding warrants from another county.

Ongoing Search for Suspect Following Traffic Stop Incident

BELLS, Tenn. – The Crockett County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) and multiple local law enforcement agencies, is actively searching for a suspect following a traffic stop that escalated into a foot pursuit in the vicinity of Walnut Hill Church Road and Lower Jackson Road.

THP initiated a traffic stop and the driver, a white male, evaded the stop and subsequently fled on foot after abandoning the vehicle. Law enforcement personnel from the Gadsden Police Department, Alamo Police Department, Bells Police Department, THP, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA), Homeland Security, and the Crockett County Sheriff’s Office quickly mobilized to attempt to apprehend the suspect.

A land and drone search is currently concentrated in the area around Walnut Hill Church Road and Lower Jackson Road. The suspect was last seen wearing a camouflage hoodie. Citizens in the area are advised to remain vigilant and report any sightings or suspicious activity to 9-1-1 or their local law enforcement agency. Please avoid the area to allow law enforcement to conduct this operation.

In connection to this incident, one female has been taken into custody, and investigators are working to determine her involvement.

Sheriff Troy Klyce urges the public to cooperate with law enforcement as they work diligently to locate the suspect and resolve this situation safely. “We appreciate the support and collaboration of our local and partners in this ongoing effort. Ensuring the safety of our community is our top priority, and we will not rest until we have apprehended the individual,” stated Sheriff Klyce.
