Team City of Newbern Claims the College Cup in the Annual Ed Lannom, Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament

Dyersburg, Tennessee – The City of Newbern team won the rights to be added to the College Cup during the Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) annual Ed Lannom, Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament held on Friday, October 24, at the Lenox Event and Golf Company in Dyersburg, TN. 

The City of Newbern team (Jason Roberts, Steven Pennington, Matt Madden, and Mark Madden) won the rights to be added to the College Cup during the Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) annual Ed Lannom, Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament held on Friday, October 24.

 

This year, 21 teams competed in the event, showcasing their talent and competitiveness, while 14 sponsors and numerous donations contributed to making this year’s tournament a success. 

Team Chick-fil-A placed second at DSCC’s annual Ed Lannom, Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament on Friday, October 24, featuring Clint Myers, Ethan Clark, Josh Rhodes, and Cody Purvis.

Dyersburg State sincerely thanks each donor and sponsor. Platinum sponsors included Dr. Buck Tarpley, DOT Foods, Inc., and Ford Construction Company. The individual hole sponsors were Bradshaw Insurance, C&C Pharmacy, Covington Flooring, DOT Foods, Inc., Dr. Buck Tarpley, Dr. Karen Bowyer, Dr. Scott Cook, Express Chevrolet, Ford Construction, Foster Chason, and Sydney and Larenda Fultz, along with a special thank you to BSN Sports for their generous support of the DSCC golf towels. 

Team No Chancers tied for second place at DSCC’s annual Ed Lannom, Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament on Friday, October 24, featuring Mike Mangrum, Tony Carson, Brian Lee, and Kevin Hardy.

Our winning team was the City of Newbern, composed of Jason Roberts, Steven Pennington, Matt Madden, and Mark Madden. Second place was a tie between Team Chick-fil-A, featuring Clint Myers, Ethan Clark, Josh Rhodes, and Cody Purvis, and Team No Chancers, with Mike Mangrum, Tony Carson, Brian Lee, and Kevin Hardy. Contest winners included Randy Chism for the putting contest, Barry Frazier for the closest to the pin, and Willie Spencer for the longest drive. 

The tournament concluded with a drawing, where Chris Messer won a gas grill generously donated by Lowe’s of Dyersburg. 

“Our annual Ed Lannom, Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament is a wonderful demonstration of community spirit and support for our college, our athletic programs, and, most importantly, our student athletes. The success of this annual event strengthens Dyersburg State Athletics and enriches the college experience for so many of our students,” stated DSCC President, Dr. Scott Cook.
