West Tennessee residents head out in droves for Halloween fun

JACKSON, Tenn. — The day is finally here that all the kids have been waiting for.

Next year, if you don’t have plans on where to go trick or treating or you are just not sure where to get the most candy, let me give you an idea: Henderson, Tennessee.

Specifically, around Crook Avenue.

Every single year around Halloween time, they pick a day, and hundreds, possibly even thousands of kids, parents, family and friends, show up and walk around to get candy and have a very fun and safe time.

We were able to talk with one lady who has lived here her entire life about why she thinks this is special.

“It has always been fun. And it has always been good clean fun. My dad was chief of police here for like 35 years and there never was really any chaos,” said Alicia Blair, resident.

And of course Halloween and trick or treating would not be the same without the kids. That is what it is all about and that is why Henderson does this every single year. We were able to talk to a few of them and get some ideas to what they were dressing up as this year.

“I’m dressed up as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. And I’m dressed up as a Fortnite skin. I’m a koala. Ghostface,” said Blair.

People enjoy Halloween, trick or treating, and walking around their neighborhoods for so many different reasons. We wanted to ask the kids what their favorite part is about this holiday.

“Costumes, candy, the force; Getting candy and seeing friends,” said Blair.

Of course there are so many places around West Tennessee that do some of the same stuff with trick or treating.

Whether it is at a church parking lot, a school, or just walking around town the small town atmosphere that we have will create memories for a lifetime.

All of us here at WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News certainly hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween.
