Bolivar Mayor Julian McTizic to run for State House in 2026

BOLIVAR MAYOR JULIAN McTIZIC TO RUN FOR STATE HOUSE IN 2026
“McTizic to Put Fatih, Family, and Unity First”

(BOLIVAR, TN) – Mayor, businessman, and community leader, Julian McTizic today  announced his intentions to run for state house in District 80 in the upcoming 2026  election. The primary election is slated for August 6th, 2026, and the general election  will be November 5th , 2026. McTizic has a clear message: Tennessee’s future is stronger when built on  faith, family, and unity.  

Born and raised in the small city of Bolivar, Julian McTizic has become one of the most respected local government officials in Tennessee. Sworn in as the  youngest and first African American elected mayor in Bolivar in 2017, McTizic has  dedicated his career to serving the families and businesses of his community. An  influential leader in Hardeman County and involved collaborator across the state, McTizic intends to use  his knowledge of how government works and will focus on cutting taxes, improving education, protecting  our seniors from fraud and abuse, and improving healthcare for rural West Tennessee.  

“I see this as a tremendous opportunity to continue my efforts in helping the community I love so much.  My entire career has focused on helping people in need, and I would be blessed to and honored to serve  the citizens of Hardeman, Haywood, and Madison counties in the state house,” McTizic said. “My faith in  God has guided every step of my life and leadership. I believe our state’s future must be anchored in  those values that never change; faith that sustains us, families that strengthen us, and unity that moves  us forward together.”  

Known for his bold leadership, strong work ethic, and his gift for building and strengthening relationships,  McTizic was re-elected mayor by the largest margin of victory in recorded history in 2021. Since his time  as mayor, he has recruited industries to Bolivar providing $15 million in capital investments to the local  economy. McTizic also served four years on the city council. He has been an insurance agent for 11 years  and is a member of the National Association of Insurers and Financial Advisors.  

As mayor, McTizic points to his success in bringing people together across lines of race,  political party, and backgrounds to deliver results for Bolivar. He emphasized that the same spirit of  cooperation and conservative leadership will define his campaign for the Tennessee state legislature.  

McTizic is a member of several philanthropic and civic organizations including serving  as a Paul Harris Fellow in the Bolivar Chapter of Rotary International and the Bolivar General Hospital  Healthcare Foundation. He currently serves as the President  

on the Tennessee Mayor’s Association and the West Tennessee Mayor’s Association.  He is a member of the Executive Board of the Southwest Tennessee Development  District, a TN Certified Economic Developer from the University of Tennessee and is the  West Tennessee Coordinator of the Tennessee Renewable Energy and Economic  Development Council.  

McTizic is a graduate of Hardeman County Leadership, the 2018 Class of WestStar,  and the Complete Tennessee Leadership Institute. He is a recipient of the African  American Emerging Leader Award, the Tennessee State NAACP Race Relations  Trailblazer Award, the 2018 Rising Phoenix Award, the 2019 TREEDC Community  Champion, the 2023 TREEDC Excellence in Economic Development Award, and the  2023 Top Political Global Leadership Award.  

McTizic has been married to his wife Demetria for 17 years and has four sons, Julian  Jr., Jamison, Jaxton, and Jules. The McTizic family are members of Jones Chapel in  Grand Junction, Tennessee.
