First Freeze this Morning for Some! Nice Most of the Week Until Friday!
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
Everyone fell into the low to mid 30s this morning to kick off our work week. It looks like we hit 32° at the airport in Jackson but we will get the official report from the NWS later this afternoon. It turned out to be a nice day once the sun came up and expect a few more nice days as we get deeper into the work week. Warmer temperatures will move in this week but by the end of the week, a round of showers and potential storms will move back through the Mid South. Severe weather cannot be ruled out as of now so we will need to keep an eye on the forecast for the next few days as the system gets a little closer. Catch the latest forecast information coming up here.
THIS WEEK:
After a soggy Saturday, we dried out on Sunday and the clouds cleared out Monday morning on the back side of the cold front making for a chilly start to the work week. Everyone was cold enough for a frost and some locations fell down between 30-32° seeing our first round of freezes this fall. The next chance for a freeze will not be here until early next week as warmer weather is on the way this week. After a sunny day, skies will remain clear tonight and the winds will be calm, but earlier in the day southwest winds increased the dew point today so we should only fall down to around 40° tonight. The increase in dew point could also lead to some patchy fog in some areas overnight as well.
Tuesday is going to be a nice day with morning lows around 40° and high temperatures around 70° but the early afternoon hours. Expect another day packed full of sunshine so rain showers are NOT expected on Tuesday. The winds will be light out of the southwest and even be calm at times as well. Tuesday night lows will drop down to the mid 40s.
There will be a weak front that may pass through or stall out on Wednesday but it isn’t going to impact our weather in any way. Highs will reach the low to mid 70s with mostly sunny skies. As the front passes there will be some clouds moving through but no rain showers are expected from the front. The winds could shift from the southwest to the northeast for a brief period before changing back to the southeast on Thursday as the front will lift back through. Wednesday night lows will also fall to the mid 40s and Thursday highs will again reach the low to mid 70s with mostly sunny skies.
The next system that will bring noticeable chances to West Tennessee and the Mid South is coming in on Friday. The low pressure system and cold front will bring showers and storms with it. As of now the severe weather threat appears to be low but that could change over the next couple days as the system gets a little closer and we have a better idea of where the highest amounts of energy from the system is going to be located. We will also have a better idea of when the showers will be showing up and if they might be impacting the football games on Friday night by the middle of the week. Highs on Friday will reach the low 70s before the showers start and Friday night lows will drop into the mid 40s.
THE WEEKEND:
The weekend weather forecast is a bit tricky as we are expecting the cold front that sparked up the rain on Friday to move through on Saturday. Depending on the timing of the Saturday front we could hit the low 70s or only reach the 60s. We cannot rule out a couple showers on Saturday as the front passes but we are not expecting much if we see any rain at all from the front passing. We are going to be much cooler on Sunday and into Monday next week. Saturday night lows are forecast to be in the mid 40s as some clouds are still expected to be hanging around. Sunday highs will reach the upper 50s to near 60° but Sunday night will fall back down near freezing into the low 30s. Expect a mostly sunny but cool day on Sunday and clear skies Sunday night into Monday morning.
