Jackson church minister arrested for statutory rape by an authority figure
JACKSON, Tenn. — A local church minister is behind bars facing a sex crime charge.

According to booking information, 44-year-old Andrew Stephen Ervin was booked into the Madison County Jail just before 5 p.m. on Monday, November 3.
Ervin is being charged with statutory rape by an authority figure.
Several WBBJ Tipsters brought to our attention that Ervin was involved with Northside Church, located at 2571 North Highland Avenue in Jackson. Information available online suggests an ordination service for Ervin was held at Northside in October 2024.
We reached out to Northside Church, who shared the following statement:
On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, Church members brought to the attention of Church leadership that a Church minister, Andrew Ervin, had engaged in behavior that disqualified him from serving as a minister for the Church. Following an investigation of the allegations, the Church notified appropriate law enforcement officials and immediately terminated the minister. The Church is fully cooperating with law enforcement. Northside Church is grieved and heartbroken by this former minister’s behavior and for those affected by his behavior and is doing everything that it can to provide all necessary resources and assistance to those who have been affected.
Madison County court staff confirmed the charge does involve a minor, and stated that a grand jury indicted Ervin on the charges on Monday.
We’ve reached out to authorities involved for more information, however no further details have been confirmed at this time.
Records available online indicate Ervin remains in custody at the Madison County jail at the time of this report.
