Arthur Boykin set to become new Mayor of Humboldt
HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — The City of Humboldt elected a new mayor Tuesday night, and we wanted to sit down with him to learn more about his plans.

The unofficial results have Arthur Boykin receiving nearly 68% of the vote. We were able to sit down with Boykin the morning after the election to get his reaction to the results.
“A gleeful tiredness. I’m feeling great,” Boykin said. “I’m feeling excited about the possibilities of what we’re going to do for the City of Humboldt.”
Boykin also has some big plans with his new role in the Mayor’s seat. He shared with us a few of those ideas.

The beautification and revitalization of Humboldt. The engagement of every citizen. The empowerment of citizens. Being transparent fiscally as well as operationally. As well as talking to and taking collaborations with other businesses and solving our problems,” Boykin said.
He will not begin his new role until January 1, 2026. However, it will still be a busy time for him until then. He explained to us what his plans will be up until he officially begins as Mayor.

“I want to meet all of the business partners there in Humboldt. To use a cliché, I want to hit the ground with at least a walk or a little trot rather than a crawl. I think I need to meet all of the small business people, as well as the larger employers there,” said Boykin.
The current Mayor, Marvin Sikes, will continue to fulfill his duties until his term expires.
Mayor-elect Arthur Boykin ended the conversation with us by giving his thanks to the citizens of Humboldt for their support and trust.

“Humboldt is one community. I know not everyone voted for me, but I will represent everyone that is a citizen of the City of Humboldt. I will do that with honor and with respect. Realizing that, together, we’re going to make Humboldt be what we want it to be.”
