Nice Again Thursday, Rain & Storm Chances Friday, WINTER Blast Coming Sunday!

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

The weather has been splendid today and will remain that way on Thursday. A weak front will move through and stall out tonight before lifting back to the north into the day on Thursday. Another storm system is coming in from the west and will usher in some rain showers and storms with it on Friday. Friday afternoon and evening seem the most likely times to be impacted and the Storm Prediction Center has put half of our viewing area under a slight risk (2/5) for severe storms. We will have the latest on the timing and severity of the event, plus more on a WINTER blast coming in on Sunday right here.

THIS WEEK:

There will be a weak front that will pass through and stall out on Wednesday night but it isn’t going to impact our weather in any way. Highs still reached the mid 70s with mostly sunny skies  during our Wednesday afternoon. As the front passes there will be some clouds moving through but no rain showers are expected from the front. The winds could shift from the southwest to the north for a brief period before tonight changing back to the south on Thursday as the front will lift back through. Wednesday night lows will also fall to the mid 40s and Thursday highs will again reach the low to mid 70s with mostly sunny skies. Clouds will look to move back in Thursday night and stick around on Friday.

The next system that will bring noticeable chances to West Tennessee and the Mid South is coming in on Friday. The low pressure system and cold front will bring showers and storms with it. We are under a level 1 (marginal risk) and a level 2 (slight risk) for potential severe storms as of now. That could change over the next couple days as the system gets a little closer and we have a better idea of where the highest amounts of energy from the system is going to be located. Some of the showers and storms might be impacting the football games on Friday night but the further west you are, the more likely the rain will have wrapped up before kick off of the games. Highs on Friday will reach the low to mid 70s before the showers start and Friday night lows will drop down to around 50°.

THE WEEKEND:

The weekend weather forecast is a bit tricky as we are expecting the cold front that sparked up the rain on Friday to move through on Saturday. Depending on the timing of the Saturday front we could hit the low 70s or only reach the 60s. We cannot rule out a couple showers on Saturday as the front passes but we are not expecting much if we see any rain at all from the front passing. We are going to be much cooler on Sunday and into Monday next week. Saturday night lows are forecast to be in the mid 40s as some clouds are still expected to be hanging around. Sunday highs will reach the mid 50s but Sunday night will fall back down near or below freezing around 30°. Expect a mostly sunny but cool day on Sunday and clear skies Sunday night into Monday morning.

NEXT WEEK:

The coldest weather by fall this fall is coming early next week. Highs on Monday may only reach the mid 40s and Monday night lows will drop as low as the mid 20s. We should see sunny skies on Monday but it is going to be cold. By Tuesday, highs will climb back into the mid 50s. There is even a chance for a few flurries early next week but we are not confident in that scenario playing out at this time but it will be worth keeping an eye on later in the week. The greatest chances for flurries or very minor snow accumulations is looking like areas near the Kentucky Lake at this time. Highs will warm back up into the mid 60s by next Wednesday.
