New Life Church donates to Youth Villages

JACKSON, Tenn.—One Jackson church is helping foster children in the area.

New Life Church has raised money and collected supplies to help fight a stigma faced by many foster children.

Organizers say that often children in foster care don’t own luggage and only have their belongings in trash bags.

The church through its own internal efforts collected enough proceeds to donate 89 pieces of luggage and other items including blankets, toiletries, and stuffed animals to foster children.

The donations were blessed and presented to Youth Villages during the Sunday morning service at the church located at 535 Denmark Rd.

“We came up with a unit cost of how much each set of luggage would cost to be able to outfit it with a bath cloth, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap; and we came to the church and just asked for donations, and over the course of several weeks donations poured in, and that’s how we did it really. We didn’t do any fundraisers or anything. These are just our members using the resources God has blessed them with in order to give it right back to the community,” said Todd Levens, member, New Life Church of Jackson.

Community members were also invited to the service to witness the joyous event and shine a light on the needs of foster care.
