USAA launches ‘Honor Through Action’ initiative on Veterans Day
JACKSON, Tenn. — USAA is proud to announce the launch of a new program beginning this Veterans Day.

Published studies have shown that 62% of veterans are underemployed seven years after they transition out of service.
The Head of Corporate Impact with USAA, Jenna Saucedo-Herrera tells us of a new program to hopefully help this.
“USAA has been advocating for service members for over a century,” Saucedo-Herrera said. But, this Veterans Day, we are taking that to the next level by launching Honor Through Action — a national movement to transform the lives of military families focused on financial careers, meaningful security, and overall wellbeing. Military affiliate hiring, procurement for military and veteran owned businesses, and targeted philanthropy are just a few examples of what this program will provide.”

“It is a variety of different programs, but at the end of the day we’re looking for nonprofits that are boots on the ground today providing the services that have the opportunity to better target and scale what they are providing today,” Saucedo-Herrera added.
Bob Labrutta, a retired Air Force Major General, tells us how this program was thought of and created.

“Last year we launched an initiative called Beyond Thanks,” Labrutta said. “We were saying, ‘Hey, it is wonderful that folks come up and thank us for our service, but we can do more.’ And now what we’re doing is we’re launching with this $500 million five year program that’s aimed at focus areas that our veterans have let us know about through data points.”
38% of veterans say that they have either less than $500 in emergency savings or no savings at all.
