Bill Courtney speaks to Leadership Jackson class at Rotary meeting

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Rotary Club hosted this year’s Leadership Jackson class with a special speaker.

Bill Courtney, accomplished businessman, speaker, award-winning film subject and writer, understands the power of dreams.

Courtney is the President and CEO of Classic American Hardwoods, a lumber company that employs 120 people.

He also serves as a volunteer high school football coach, writer of “Against the Grain,” subject of the Oscar-winning documentary “Undefeated,” and gives speeches to packed audiences across the country.

“We need to quit waiting around for government and big organizations to fix the issues in our community,” Courtney stated. “And that the real answer is, normal folks seeing areas of need and using their abilities and passion to fix those areas of need. And to quit waiting on somebody else.”

Courtney, a member of the city’s prestigious Society of Entrepreneurs, lives in Memphis with his wife Lisa and their four children.
