School district staff volunteer at RIFA amid Hunger-Free Holidays initiative

JACKSON, Tenn. — School and district leaders in the Jackson-Madison County School System visited RIFA Wednesday to participate in the annual Service Day for JMCSS.

School principals joined a number of district administrators and the Superintendent’s executive team to pack snack backpacks and more than 200 Thanksgiving meals as part of RIFA’s Hunger-Free Holidays.

This is the fifth year JMCSS leaders have visited RIFA during the holiday season to volunteer.

“This is our senior leadership team, so this is all of our twenty seven principals, chief officers and executive team,” said Melissa Spurgeon, JMCSS Chief of Staff. “We do a lot of professional development together as we run the district and we wanted to give back.”

And there are other ways you can help with the cause. For just $33, you can make a difference.

Your gift of $33 means that a struggling family will enjoy a traditional holiday meal on Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Last year, with help from supporters, RIFA distributed around 950 bags of food during their Hunger-Free Holidays season.
