David Bird

Born on August 26, 1952, in Jackson, Tennessee, David devoted his life to the land and was a longtime cotton farmer in Madison County. His strong work ethic, quiet strength, and deep connection to the fields he tended were trademarks of a life lived with purpose and perseverance.

David was preceded in death by his father, James Harold Bird, and his brother, Allen Bird.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Williams Bird; his mother, Normagene Olhausen Bird McHughes; and his three children, Andy Bird (Julie), Rosemary Bird, and Ben Bird (Katie). David was a proud grandfather to Liz Bird, Spencer Bird, Emily Isbell, Lauren Isbell, Jack Bird, Alex Bird, Isaac Bird, and Lucas Bird. He also leaves behind his step sisters Laura Buckner and Harriet Johnson. Along with his sister-in-law, Janice Bird, and a host of nieces and nephews who cherished him dearly.

A service to celebrate the life of David Bird will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons, with burial to follow in Ebenezer Cemetery in Malesus. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 a.m., two hours prior to the service, at the funeral home.

David’s legacy of hard work, devotion to his family, and commitment to the land he loved will continue to live on in all who knew him.
