Don Jordan
Don was born on February 14, 1935 in Bemis, TN to Pauline Smith Jordan and C.C. Jordan. Growing up in the Bemis area, he attended local schools and participated in sports. At J.B. Young High School, he excelled in basketball, making the All-State team comprised of six players from across the state.
Don coached Little League baseball for 40 years, coaching his sons, Phillip, David, and Larry, and two grandsons. Kelly Foods was the team to beat!!
Don served his country during the Korean War at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He was chosen to play on the Army basketball team which was a highlight of his service. He was proud to be a veteran!
Returning home, he joined the work force, working for Colonial Bread and retiring from Coca-Cola as a salesman.
Don was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Jordan; brother, Charles Jordan; son, Phillip Jordan; and granddaughter, Sidney Jordan.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kay Harville Jordan; two sons, David Jordan and Larry Jordan; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a daughter in law, Vickie Lay Jordan.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Don Jordan will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. A private burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon beginning at 12 p.m., two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
As we bid farewell to Don, we celebrate the victory he has achieved of reaching his Heavenly Home and meeting Jesus, his savior, face to face. In our memories he will always be a champion in the game of life.
In lieu of flowers or other remembrances, the family requests memorials be directed to the Veteran’s Service Organization of your choice in Don’s memory.
