Hershel Harold King, a cherished member of the community, passed away on November 15, 2025, at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and unforgettable memories. Born on August 21, 1949, Harold led a life filled with purpose and adventure, from his time protecting and serving as a police officer in Centerville, TN, and Blytheville, Arkansas, to his later career as an OTR truck driver for Star & Martin.

A proud military veteran, Harold honorably served in the U.S. Army Corp of the Tennessee National Guard, serving his basic training in South Carolina, reflecting his dedication not only to his country but to the welfare of those around him. He was more than just a law enforcement officer; he was a community pillar known for his fun-loving personality and boundless generosity. Harold had an innate ability to bring joy to others, always ensuring the people around him were happy. He was a friend to many, and his kindness touched the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him.

Harold had a passion for life that extended beyond his careers. He loved to rope and ride horses, relishing the freedom and joy of the open range. He also found peace in carpentry and woodworking, where his creativity flourished. Gambler at heart, he enjoyed countless afternoons at Tunica, savoring the thrill of the game alongside friends and family alike.  His fondest past time, shared with his daughter Kim, was to sit on the porch and be entertained by all of his hummingbird visitors.

He was a loving father to his daughter, Kim Mullen (Micheal), and the memory of his late daughter, Cindy Fullington Bryant, will forever hold a special place in the hearts of his family. Harold is also survived by his brothers: Jerry King (Patsy), Billy Joe King (Renee), and Bobby Joe King (Joli), and his sister, Brenda Ward (Jeff). He leaves behind a proud lineage, including four grandchildren: Ashley Cupples, Christie Wilson, Patric Sipes, and Dustin Bryant, along with twelve great-grandchildren who will carry forward his spirit of kindness.

Harold’s deep bonds of friendship with Hobo and Dorothy Mullen enriched his life, and he was never without the companionship of his beloved pets, “Trouble”, “Lucy Lou”, and his red monkey “Clyde”, who brought him endless joy.

Harold was preceded in death by his father, DeWitt King, and his mother, Ruby Lee Harrison King. He also mourned the loss of several siblings: Jimmy King, Willie Dee King, Tuffy King, Dimple King, W.D. King, and Bobby King, along with his sisters, Helen King Jones, Frances Edge King, Gail Scully, and Opal Newell William King. Though they are no longer with us, their memories lived on in the heart of this remarkable man.

A visitation will be held in honor of Harold on November 20, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Bells Funeral Home, located at 5342 College St, Bells, TN 38006. In celebrating his life, we remember Harold King as a generous soul, an embodiment of joy and laughter, and a devoted friend and family man whose spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
