UT Extension Announces Holiday Event Lineup for West Tennessee
Enjoy Fun, Festive and Educational Programs

JACKSON, Tenn. – University of Tennessee Extension is hosting an exciting lineup of holiday events across West Tennessee in November and December.

Attendees can shop for holiday items at the annual Family and Community Education (FCE) Christmas Cottage, as well as take part in hands-on classes on crafting, cooking, knitting, sewing, seasonal gift making and more. A few of this year’s programs include:

  • FCE Christmas Cottage (Madison County) – November 21 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and November 22 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Madison County Ag Complex Auditorium – Free to attend, no registration required
  • Hand Knit Chunky Blanket Workshop (Fayette County) – November 21 at 11 a.m., Fayette County Extension Office – $20 per person, preregistration required
  • Beginner Sewing Class (Perry County) – November 24 at 10 a.m. or 4:30 p.m., Azbill Community Center – $15 per person, preregistration required
  • Charcuterie Board Making (Haywood County) – November 24 at 5:30 p.m., Haywood County Extension Office – $30 per person, preregistration required
  • Kids in the Kitchen Cooking Class (Decatur County) – November 25 at 10 a.m., Decatur County Extension Office – $5 per person, preregistration required
  • Hand Knit Chunky Blanket Workshop (Perry County) – November 25 at 1 p.m. or 5 p.m., Azbill Community Center – $20 per person, preregistration required
  • Thrifty Holiday Hacks (Obion County) – December 2 at 10 a.m., Obion County Public Library – $15 per person, preregistration required
  • Quilted Christmas Ornaments (Decatur County) – December 4 at 1 p.m., Decatur County Extension Office – $15 per person, preregistration required
  • Gifts in a Jar (Fayette County) – December 12 at 4:30 p.m., Fayette County Extension Office – $20 per person, preregistration required
  • Handmade Fabric Christmas Trees (Lauderdale County) – December 13 at 10 a.m., Lauderdale County Extension Office – $20 per person, preregistration required
  • Kids Christmas Craft Workshop (Decatur County) – December 15 at 3:30 p.m., Decatur County Extension Office – $5 per person, preregistration required
  • Gifts in a Jar Class (Perry County) – December 15 at 5 p.m., Perry County Extension Office – $20 per person, preregistration required
  • Kids Christmas Cookie Decorating (Decatur County) – December 17 at 3:30 p.m., Decatur County Extension Office – $5 per person, preregistration required
  • Christmas Jam Canning Workshop (Tipton County) – December 18 at 5:30 p.m., Tipton County Extension Office – $20 per person, preregistration required
  • Chunky Knit Snowman (Lauderdale County) – December 19 at 5:30 p.m., Lauderdale County Extension Office – $20 per person, preregistration required

“We want the community to take a break from all the holiday busyness and get hands on with the season,” says Lynn Brookins, UT Extension Western Region program leader for family and consumer sciences. “These events are the perfect way to learn exciting skills, make new friends and foster your creativity. No matter your age or interests, there is something for everyone to enjoy.”
