TBI investigating Hardin Co officer-involved shooting
HARDIN COUNTY, Tenn. – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) is leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding an officer-involved shooting in Hardin County.
On Sunday, November 23, Savannah police officers responded to the 100 block of Malcomb Street regarding a reported residential burglary at approximately 10:15 a.m. According to the TBI, preliminary findings indicate a man was threatening to harm himself.
TBI is still investigating circumstances surrounding what led to an escalation of the situation, but their preliminary findings show an officer shot the man. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. There is no update on his condition at this time.
The TBI stated, “TBI agents continue to work to independently determine the series of events leading to the shooting, including collecting evidence and conducting interviews. Throughout the process, investigative findings will be shared with the District Attorney General for his review and consideration.”
The TBI was asked to investigate the shooting by 24th Judicial District Attorney General Neil Thompson. No officers were injured in this situation, according to TBI.
