LEXINGTON, Tenn.–Thanksgiving Day is still several days away. But Monday evening, local churches and donors gather to show thanks and invite the community in to enjoy a special thanksgiving dinner.

In Lexington, leaders with good news worship center along with other local organizations held an early thanksgiving meal for the community at Caywood Elementary School.

The dinner featured a complete Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings, thanks to the efforts of donors who helped make the meal possible.

“We started last year, last year was our first year. I think we ended up serving about 500 people last year. Our goal is 1,000 people and we are working towards that this year and hopefully we will hit that goal,” said Donnie Barber, senior pastor with Good News Worship Center.

Organizers also tell us they hope to have this event again next year.
