Calm and Cool For Thanksgiving, Black Friday

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update

A cold front moved through West Tennessee overnight Tuesday. With it comes much cooler weather for the holiday, bringing temperatures down to the upper 40s during the day and down to the 20s overnight. Also, another system will be moving through our area starting Saturday. All of the details are coming up right here.

Thanksgiving:

We’ll wake up on Turkey Day with some frost likely on the grass as temperatures are expected to fall down to the low 30s across West Tennessee. Winds will be calm and skies will be clear after sunrise. Although it may be a bit chilly, if your family likes to have your own football game in the front yard, the weather will be perfect for it. After sunset, temperatures will plummet down to the mid-20s so if you’d rather skip the football and sit in front of the fireplace, the weather will be perfect for that too.

Black Friday:

It’s going to be a cold start to the biggest shopping day of the year. Temperatures will start around the upper-20s by the time folks start getting out and about. There is no rain in the forecast for Friday, but you’ll still want the jackets as temperatures are only expected to peak around the mid-40s. We all have our eyes on this weekend and the start of December.

Saturday:

Our next big system will move into the area on Saturday. We’re looking at four days of off-and-on cold rain more than likely, but there is a fair chance that toward the end of the system a few flurries try to make it to the ground. The best chance for a wintry mix on Saturday will be before 10 AM and north of Interstate 40. Lake, Obion, and Weakley counties may see a flurry or two before it quickly warms into a cold rain.

Sunday:

Sunday Looks to be much drier behind the first leg of the system, but don’t let your guard down as Monday night looks similar to Saturday morning, except without the heating. Sunday’s high will only get up to about 44 degrees, so if a chance for rain builds in early, it will be a very cold rain.

Monday:

Monday morning and afternoon look to be very mild, but once the sun goes down, things could get slippery. There is a solid chance most of West Tennessee will be receiving a hefty dose of a wintry mix overnight Monday. With an overnight low in the upper 20s, There is a concern for icing on many roadways, especially bridges. It is probably a good idea to stay in for the night once you get home on Monday.

Jackson Christmas Parade:

Starting at 7, light cold rain may begin to move into the area switching to a wintry mix between 9-10. Be sure to bundle up if you plan on heading out to the fun.

Nov2025 System 2

Tuesday:

Tuesday has the best chance for folks to receive some of the first flurries of the winter season. While it’s too early to give estimates for accumulation, temperature forecasts would suggest that any accumulation would be gone by the end of the work day. The system will be out of West Tennessee by noon.
