Thanksgiving ranked third deadliest holiday to be on the road, data shows

Thanksgiving is more than a time of gratitude and gathering. It’s also among the most dangerous holidays for drivers in the United States.

Zutobi, a driver’s education platform, has just released its 2025 Holiday Driving Report, ranking the deadliest holidays in the U.S. And highlighting the key risk factors behind Thanksgiving crashes.

According to newly analyzed data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 2,488 people were killed in crashes over the last five Thanksgiving travel periods, making it the third deadliest holiday to be on the road.
