Cold Rain Saturday, Wintry Mix Possible Monday Night into Tuesday Morning
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
Clouds are moving in this evening and will be sticking around tonight and into the day tomorrow. Rain showers will return Saturday in the afternoon and linger through the evening. We will likely be just a bit too warm for any wintry mix or snow on Saturday but there will be slight chance in the morning near the Kentucky border. There is a much better chance for some wintry mix or light snow to mix in Monday night into Tuesday morning. We are going to see some light snow or flurries Tuesday morning or have a very close call. 1-2° difference in temp will determine what we see! As of now, accumulations over an inch seem unlikely. Chances are highest near Kentucky and lowest near Mississippi. We will have the latest coming up here.
THIS WEEK:
Temperatures remained chilly on Thanksgiving with highs again only reaching around 50°. We fell all the way down to the mid 20s to start our Black Friday morning. The winds were calm to start our Black Friday and should remain that way tonight. Highs on Friday only reached up to the mid 40s and it was cold for any early day shopping adventures you went on. We did see mostly sunny skies on Friday, just like on Thanksgiving but clouds are moving back in this evening and tonight. The winds will shif to the southeast Friday night and into the start of the upcoming weekend, but temperatures are still not going to warm up much. Friday night lows will fall down to the low to mid 30s remaining cool.
THE WEEKEND:
More rain showers and maybe a wintry mix up north will move back in this weekend. At this time, rain is looking likely on Saturday but should move out sometime during the day on Sunday. The rain will be heavier in the evening hours. Most of the showers should clear out by Sunday morning. Clouds and showers will keep the temperatures down on Saturday with highs only reaching the mid 40s. The cooler weather will likely keep any storms away from the weekend system. There could be a brief period of wintry mix near the Kentucky border in our northern counties as well.
Saturday night lows will fall down to the low to mid 30s. Expect about 1/2″ of rain on Saturday for most of us. Sunday will be cold with highs only reaching the low to mid 40s again on Sunday. The winds on Saturday will come out of the southeast but turn to the northeast on Sunday as the cold front will pass during the middle of the weekend. More showers and winter precipitation chances are expected early next week as well.
NEXT WEEK:
Our best chances for a wintry mix or snow so far this season is coming in on Monday night. The big question with Monday’s system will be the temperatures when the showers are coming down late Monday. Some cold rain is coming and a wintry mix seems highly likely at this time to develop overnight. There is also a decent chance for some light snow as well. Accumulations will be possible as well but anything over an inch seems unlikely for us at this time. It is still a bit early to have much confidence in who is most likely to see the snow and how much, but chances are decent at this time.
Monday morning we will start out around freezing but highs on Monday may not even hit 40°. When the showers start late in the day, we are expecting rain, but when will it start to change over is the question. Monday night lows will fall down to the upper 20s. There is a chance some snow lingers into early Tuesday morning as well. Tuesday highs will only reach up to around 40°. Highs will stay in the 40s for the rest of the work week.
