COLD for the Parade in Jackson, Some Teens Possible Wednesday Morning!

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

Temperatures hung around the freezing mark all day in West Tennessee and we will be falling into the mid 20s this evening during the Super Hero Christmas Parade in Jackson (starts at 6:30 downtown). Some of us could even fall into the teens Wednesday morning. BUNDLE UP if you are heading to the parade tonight in Jackson. Kids WILL NEED gloves, hats, winter coats and a warm layer underneath as well. Please try to minimize bare skin exposure as temperatures will be in the mid 20s. The wind chill will not be a factor as the winds in general will be calm tonight. The sun will come back out tomorrow but highs will only reach the mid 40s. The next system is coming in on Thursday and could bring a brief round of spitting snow or freezing drizzle with it. We will have the latest coming up tonight at 5 on WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News.

THIS WEEK:

By sunrise today, temperatures feel down to the upper 20s but we did not warm up much at all today. The skies will clear out later tonight and that will make for a very cold night across West Tennessee. Highs only reach the low to mid 30s during the afternoon. Roads should be fine this evening and tonight across the region. The winds stayed out of the north on Tuesday and were light. Tuesday night the winds will turn up calm and temperatures will fall down to the low 20s by Wednesday morning. Some teens will even be possible up north. Expect a mostly sunny day with highs reaching the mid 40s on Wednesday staying below normal for this time of the year. The winds will be calm most of the day and Wednesday night lows will fall down to around the freezing mark of 32°.

Another cold front is going to drop in on Thursday. The front will stall just to our south and a low pressure system could be close enough Thursday night into Friday morning to bring another brief round of cold rain, a wintry mix or even a few flurries. Thursday night’s system is not going to bring as much precipitation with it as Monday night’s storm. Again we are not expecting travel impacts from that system. Thursday highs will reach up to around 40° and expect a mostly cloudy day. Showers are not expected until after the sun goes down and probably not until closer to 10pm. Anything falling should wrap up by sunrise on Friday. Friday will be partly cloudy but still cold. Highs will reach the low to mid 40s and Friday night lows will fall down to around 30° to kick off our weekend.

THE WEEKEND:

Temperatures are forecast to be a little warmer this weekend with highs making it up to around 50°. Both mornings will hang in the low 30s but Sunday night we could fall back into the mid to upper 20s again. There will be another system moving through the weekend but as of now, it looks to bring a cold rain in for most of us. Depending on the timing of the system we can’t rule out a brief wintry mix or even some light snow at this time but we are leaning towards a cold rain at this time. The winds will be calm on Saturday and come out of the west on Sunday and back to the north Sunday night into Monday.
