Warm & Breezy Wednesday, COLD Blast this Weekend!
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
We made it up to 50° today but we were again short of average for this time of the year. Tomorrow we should warm up above average for the first time in over two weeks with highs reaching the mid 50s. The reason we are going to warm up will be due to breezy southwest winds that will turn to the northwest in the afternoon as a front moves through. It could be quite gusty at times on Wednesday. There is even a warmer day in the forecast and we will tell you when that is coming up tonight on WBBJ. Plus we will have the latest on the very cold weather coming this weekend when the wind chill will be falling into the teens. Catch it all coming up here.
THIS WEEK:
Monday was the coldest day of the work week but it is not the coldest weather in the forecast, that is coming this weekend. Highs only reached the upper 30s on Monday. Monday night lows dropped into the mid to upper 20s making for a chilly morning on Tuesday. The winds shifted to the southwest on Tuesday and that helped warm us up to around 50°. We also saw a mostly sunny day on Tuesday and overnight lows falling down to only around 40° due to the winds. The winds are going to pick up overnight and peak in the early afternoon hours on Wednesday.
Breezy southwest winds are on the way on Wednesday and will turn to the northwest as the afternoon goes on. That will warm us up to the mid to upper 50s and above average. Wednesday could be our first day above average in over two weeks. It will be close if we make it or not. Clouds will move in during the day as the next front will move in the afternoon and evening hours. Overall it looks like a dry and weak front and will only cool things down around 10° as it passes by. Wednesday night lows will cool down to around 30°.
Thursday and Friday look to be mostly sunny days. Highs will reach up to around 50° on Thursday but back into the upper 50s for Friday. Both days look dry and the winds will have a southerly component to them both days. The clear skies will make for some cold overnights though. Thursday night will fall down to the mid 30s and Friday night lows should be cooler fall into the upper 20s to kick off our weekend as a weak dry front will pass late in the day on Friday. Friday’s front will come in from the north.
THE WEEKEND:
A powerful cold blast is on the way for the upcoming weekend. The system will move through on Saturday afternoon and could bring a round of cold rain showers with it. As of now, anything but a cold rain seems unlikely at this time. That being said, if the system changes timing a brief wintry mix could fall, but seems unlikely as of now. Highs on Saturday will only reach the low to mid 40s from Friday nights front. Saturday’s system will be a low pressure area followed by a front. The frost will drop us into the mid 20s by Sunday morning.
Sunday is going to be a very cold day with highs only reaching the 30s. Sunday night could be the coldest night so far this fall with lows down near 20°. The wind child Sunday night will also be in the mid teens most of the night. Expect a mostly cloudy day on Saturday and a mostly sunny or partly cloudy day on Sunday. Skies should clear out Sunday night. The winds will be breezy at times this weekend and come out of the north behind the fronts.
