Man faces attempted first-degree murder charges after allegedly using ‘AK-47 style pistol’ in shooting
PRESS RELEASE FROM THE LAUDERDALE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE:
LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Tenn. — On December 9, 2025, the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office responded to a person being shot in the 2000 block of Highway 19 E. On arrival, deputies discovered two adult male gunshot victims, one suffering an injury to the right shoulder and the second receiving injuries in the left leg.
While on scene, officers received communication of additional shootings in the City of Ripley from a vehicle matching the description of the originating call.
With quick action by law enforcement, deputies responded to communications and located a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle’s description in the parking lot of the Lauderdale County Hospital. Deputies came in contact and identified the driver as Dedreck Campbell of Haywood County, TN, who had an active warrant for Domestic Assault.

Once in custody, deputies discovered that Campbell had an AK-47 style pistol chambered in 5.56/223 ammunition consistent with that believed to be used in the prior shooting.
Dedreck Campbell is currently housed in the Lauderdale County Jail and facing charges from the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office of two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission or Attempt to Commit a Dangerous Felony.
The investigation is ongoing, and Campbell may face additional charges as it progresses.
All persons involved are innocent until found guilty by a court of law.
