Philip Rivers unretires and signs with Colts
Former NFL quarterback Philip Rivers is coming out of retirement at 44 years of age and now a grandfather.
Rivers announced today that he’s signed with the Indianapolis Colts practice squad.
He could suit up as soon as Sunday. Rivers retired in 2021 after 17 seasons in the NFL
finishing his career with Indianapolis.
Since then he’s been coaching high school football in Alabama.
But, injuries forced the Colts to look for help and fast.
Starter Daniel Jones is out for the year with an Achilles
injury and two other quarterbacks remain injured.
Head coach Shane Steichen who once coached Rivers with the Los Angeles Chargers made the call
Rivers said he never expected to play again
but the opportunity just felt right.
