Scotts Hill student named finalist during 98th National FFA Convention

REAGAN, Tenn. — A student at Scotts Hill High School has been named a national finalist for the 98th National Future Farmers of America Convention for his innovative fishing lures.

Hunter Sims, who owns his own business making lures, was among seven other winners at the ceremony in Indianapolis.

Students compete in areas ranging from agricultural communications to wildlife management.

Sims tells us about the variety of skills it takes to thrive in a competition like this one.

“My business has really helped with this is talking to people, being able to communicate with large groups of people, being able to talk to new people, work ethic is a big one,” said Sims.

The awards honor FFA members who have developed specialized skills that they can apply toward their future careers.
