WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
We were about 10° cooler today from yesterday’s cold front but overall, It wasn’t a bad day. The winds will shift back to the southwest tonight keeping our overnight temperatures up into Friday morning. Friday will be our second day this month with above average temperatures with highs making it up near 60°. A weak front from the west will pass Friday night and a powerful arctic front will blast in from the north Saturday night. Temperatures will fall down to the upper teens by Sunday morning and it will be breezy as well. That will allow the wind chill to drop down in the single digits in the morning and staying in the teens all day on Sunday. We could be even colder Monday morning. This will be our coldest weather since the middle of February. Catch the latest coming up here.
Wednesday/Thursday marked the 4 year anniversary of the deadliest December tornado outbreak we have ever seen. In total there were 71 tornadoes and 89 people lost their lives (most of them were in Kentucky including many in Mayfield. We had two long tracked supercells that spawned an EF3 and an EF4 tornado. Each were on the ground for over 90 minutes and each tracked over 80 miles. We could be looking at another chance for severe weather around Christmas but forecast models 14 days out are often not to be trusted.
