Chickasaw State Park Presents: ‘Lighting of the Park’
HENDERSON, Tenn. —The Christmas season is underway and a Tennessee state park is making sure families have the perfect holiday experience. Many are looking for Christmas lights and lots of them.
It’s the holiday season and Chickasaw State Park in Chester County is becoming more festive than ever for their Christmas light tradition, ‘Lighting Of The Park.’ The tradition reels in over 6,000 visitors a year averaging 2,000 cars a night.
“See the wonderful display that we have here at Chickasaw. We light 1,200 candles every day. Several volunteers come and do that and that is honestly what makes the display so beautiful,” said Ellen Brown, Coordinator for Lighting of the Park.
If you would like to contribute to this holiday favorite, donations will be accepted that will go towards park initiatives.
“We do this the same weekend every year. We do it Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. each night of that weekend. This year it is December 12th, 13th, and 14th, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. nightly,” Brown said.
Of course, around the holidays we want to remind you what’s most important.
“For me the true meaning of Christmas is to celebrate the Savior. I do appreciate being with family and having that time. It’s just a special time that we can all get together and celebrate the meaning but also celebrate the love that we have for one another, Brown added.
