Robert Arthur Cummings

Bob was a devoted husband, loving father, faithful friend, and man of God. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at the age of 8 years old. His life was a testament to the grace and love of the Father. He loved to fellowship with his church family, travel, and spend time with his children and grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.

He was proud of his Jackson heritage as a graduate of North Side High School, class of 1957, and Union University, class of 1961. Professionally, he spent many years in manufacturing as a plant manager, ending his career in the fishing lure industry.

Bob was preceded in death by his loving parents, Arthur W. and Mary Moore Cummings; 3 sisters, Rebecca and Jack Beard, Martha and Tommy Blasingame, Mary Edwards and Herman Slott; and two precious sons, Reese and Alan.

He is survived by his devoted wife of almost 50 years, Leola Upton Cummings; sister Linda and Allen Graves; three daughters, Kimberly and Ron Richardson, Amy and Jeff Boyd, Andrea and Michael Thomas; five beloved grandchildren, Kaleb and Payton Richardson, Nate and Emma Thomas, Abby, Amelia, and Mattie Jane Thomas; and one great grandson, Rhodes Richardson.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and staff at The Pointe at Lifespring, Knoxville, TN, where Bob and Leola have lived for the past 4 months.

Receiving of Friends will be held Friday, December 19, 2025, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at George A. Smith and Son Funeral Home, 1544 South Highland, Jackson, TN 38301. A committal service will follow at Clover Creek Cemetery, 2094 Highway 18, Medon, TN 38356, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. The service will be officiated by Rev. Michael Thomas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Union University, Union 200 Fund, or Young Life of Jackson, TN.
