Jeffrey “Jeff” Lynn Mays

Jeffrey “Jeff” Lynn Mays, age 63, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on December 19, 2025.

Jeff was born on May 14, 1962, in Jackson, Tennessee. He worked for many years at McCowat Mercer, where he was known for his dedication, reliability, and strong work ethic. A man of Baptist faith, Jeff valued his beliefs and found comfort in them throughout his life.

Above all, Jeff cherished time spent with his family and friends. He especially loved fishing and hunting—pastimes that brought him great joy, peaceful moments, and lasting memories shared with those he loved.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, James Deming Mays and Geraldine Duke Mays.

He is survived by his loving fiancée, Pam Tramell; his daughter, Nicki (Kirk) Bray; his two grandsons, Will and Luke Bray, who were the light of his life; his brothers, Rickey (Donna) Mays and Doug (Kim) Mays; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 22, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, South Jackson. A graveside service will take place at Brown’s Church Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the donor’s preferred organization or church.
