Update: Single shot fired in JMCGH parking lot incident

Update: Single shot fired at 620 Skyline Drive

December 21, 2025

JACKSON, Tenn.—The Jackson Police Department is investigating a report of a single shot fired in the parking lot of Jackson-Madison County General Hospital located at 620 Skyline Drive.

On December 20, 2025, around 10:05 p.m., the Jackson Police Department responded to this location in reference to a Shot Spotter Alert and hospital security confirming a single shot was fired at this location in the parking lot. When officers arrived they discovered the single round was fired from inside a vehicle, fortunately, no one was injured.

Through further investigation it has been determined that four individuals arrived in a vehicle to visit a patient at the hospital.

Before exiting the vehicle one of the individuals fired one round from a firearm. Investigators have found no evidence of a targeted victim pertaining to this incident. Officers located two firearms in the parking lot and one fired casing from inside the vehicle.

There were three individuals detained concerning this incident. Two males and one female. One male has been questioned and released. The female has been questioned and is currently being held on an outstanding warrant. Another male suspect is currently being detained and will be charged with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon. The fourth person fled the scene prior to officers arrival and remains at large.

JPD respond to shots fired at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital

JACKSON, Tenn.—Multiple JPD units responded to a shots fired call Saturday night at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

Our crew arrived on scene and witnessed a very large police presence in the parking lot area of the hospital, which was said to be placed on lock down due to the incident. While at the scene, suspects were also being detained.

We reached out to JPD Sunday morning for an update, but were told at this time there was no further information available.

JPD has released the following statement regarding the incident:

The Jackson Police Department responded to shots being fired in the parking lot of Jackson Madison County General Hospital at 620 Skyline Drive.

Officers arrived on scene and located a crime scene inside a vehicle in the parking lot near the Emergency Department. Officers as well as K9’s located two firearms. Two male individuals and a female were quickly detained in connection with the incident.

It is unknown at this time if the actions of those involved were accidental or intentional. There have been no reported injuries at this time and from preliminary investigations this appears to be an isolated incident.
