Jackson Police, Fire announce fireworks sales & use timeframe

INFORMATION SHARED BY JACKSON POLICE DEPARTMENT:

The New Year’s fireworks sales period in Jackson, Tennessee runs from December 18 through January 2, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.

Within the city limits of Jackson, TN, the approved fireworks use period is:

  • December 28 through January 2, from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • December 31, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 a.m. on January 1

Fireworks cause thousands of injuries each year, and seasonal conditions can increase the risk of fires.

Cold temperatures and dry winter weather leave brown, dormant vegetation more easily ignited, making extra caution and safe practices essential.

Fire Safety First

Residents are urged to follow these fireworks safety guidelines:

  • Only use consumer fireworks approved by Tennessee state law.
  • Never ignite fireworks near dry grass, structures, or flammable materials.
  • Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose nearby in case of fire.
  • Supervise all fireworks activity—especially when children are present.
