With Christmas week upon us, deals still available for last-minute shoppers
JACKSON, Tenn. — Are you finished with your Christmas shopping, or do you still have some items on your list?

Christmas is knocking at the door and Black Friday is in the rearview mirror. However, the savings are still here at plenty of stores around Jackson and all over.
We talked with Steve Johnson, the store director of Academy Sports + Outdoors, who says that there’s still opportunity for deals out there.

“This is when the items that you really can’t hide, you start to sell. We have tons of bikes with some on sale. We have basketball goals. We have different varieties on sale. The really big stuff you start to sell now,” Johnson said.
Whether you have to get up really early in the morning to go shopping, or wait until later in the night, that’s okay. The doors will be open for you.

“We are opening at 7 [a.m.] and we are staying open till 11 [a.m]. Typically we are 8 to 10. But we are opening 7 to 11. Christmas Eve we will be open from 7 to 7 so our team can get home and spend time with their family,” Johnson said.
Even though online shopping has soared through the years and many people are getting their Christmas gifts that way, Johnson says many things have stayed the same.

“You know, we’ll have those items here and there. Like last year the Stanley cup was a big deal. But yeah it is bikes, basketball goals. Kids are still kids. Santa Claus is coming. We got to make sure they get what they gotta get.”
So what we have learned is that if you have put off the stocking stuffers or maybe you haven’t gotten the big ticket item yet, that is okay. Even though Christmas is Thursday, you still have a few days to get out there and make those purchases.

Like most stores, Academy will be closed on Christmas Day.
