Joseph Carroll Crawford Jr. was born on September 12, 1957, in Lansing, Michigan, and he journeyed through life with an exuberance that touched everyone around him before passing from this world on December 22, 2025, at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital. His legacy is woven into the fabric of his family and friends, who will cherish the indelible mark he left on their hearts.
A proud high school graduate, Joseph dedicated many years to residential construction, where his skilled hands helped create homes for families. But it was not just his work that defined him; it was his vibrant spirit and infectious personality that endeared him to those who knew him. Joseph was known as the “Hippie” parent, a beacon of love and friendship. He embraced life fully, believing in the power of connection and community. His passion for life was palpable; he was the life of the party, a man who loved to celebrate with those he held dear.
Joseph’s love for his family was boundless. He was a devoted son to his mother, Jeanet Clark Crawford, and shared a deep bond with his sister, Patsy Bland. His heart overflowed with pride for his children: son Justin Daniel Crawford, who shared a fulfilling life with Andrea, and daughter Brandy Finley, who brightened his days alongside her partner, Ladarius. Joseph was also a cherished grandfather, finding immense joy in the smiles of his three grandchildren, Aubree Finley, Kaylen, and Bella Crawford. They were a source of unending pride and love, and he delighted in every moment spent with them.
Joseph was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Carroll Crawford Sr., his beloved wife of over 42 years, Vickie Lynn Crawford, and his brothers, Alan, David, and Tommy Crawford. Their absence will be keenly felt, yet their memories will serve as a comforting reminder of the love they shared.
Throughout his life, Joseph exemplified the values he learned as a member of the First Christian Church of Jackson, TN. His nurturing spirit and kindness echoed the faith he lived by. He loved not only his family but also his beloved pet dogs, who brought him much joy, serving as loyal companions throughout his journey.
As we bid farewell to Joseph, we are grateful for the memories that will continue to inspire us. His laughter, his zest for life, and his unwavering love for family and friends will resonate within our hearts forever. He was a loving soul, a true party enthusiast, and a wonderful person who embraced everyone with warmth and kindness. Joseph Carroll Crawford Jr. may have departed from our sight, but he will never be forgotten, for he has etched his name in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
